About the Friends

Who are the Friends of Rochambeau?

A group of individuals, families, and businesses dedicated to the support of the Rochambeau neighborhood location of Community Libraries of Providence:  its facility, programs, services, resources, and all people it seeks to serve in our community.

What do the Friends of Rochambeau do?

The Friends provide funding support for acquisitions, equipment, events, programs, and services that the Rochambeau Library could not otherwise afford without this added support of dedicated Friends. Thanks to our members’ generosity the Friends help to provide: support for the children’s room, museum passes on loan to users at all PCL locations, funding for book acquisitions and programming funding, subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals, and collaborate with other organizations to bring quality programming and services to our community – just to name a few. We can’t do this without you!

The Friends provide this funding primarily by running semi-annual book sales, as well as sales from our ongoing Book Sale Shelf next to the elevator on the main level.

Why become a Friend?

You help support a vibrant community asset — a staff and branch dedicated to our neighborhood. You will receive the newsletter, invitations to special events, and have the opportunity to serve the Branch in numerous special ways. Needless to say, the greatest benefit of being a Friend is knowing that you are actively helping the Library that you use and love!

When can you join?

Any time. But the best time would be at one of our Semi-Annual Book Sales. Your annual renewal will be due at the same time next year. Your annual membership support is tax-deductible as the Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
